Interpretation and response
Windows reported a logon failure because the account password expired. Follow the account password renewal process and inspect repeated failures.
An OSSEC/HIDS event records or correlates activity. Blocking depends on the originating application and any separately configured Active Response policy; an alert alone does not prove that an attack was blocked.
The copied description and event list included unrelated failure types. The reviewed definition identifies event 535 and an expired password.
